We must create ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Currently, there are limited ways to publicly charge vehicles in Parksville. The Community Park has just one, level 2 charging station, while there are literally hundreds of cars parked in the area on most days. We must get ahead of the curve & create ways to charge these vehicles throughout the city. It's a great way to generate revenues for the city long-term as well.
I am concerned with the ongoing gentrification of our neighbourhoods, and the resulting lack of affordable accommodations for young families. I think that we need to focus on developing more affordable homes for families & less high end units.
People visit Parksville because it is one of the most beautiful spots in Canada, tourists & locals also enjoy our local events, especially over the summer months. I would like to see the construction of an indoor theatre, which will allow us to host events year round. Visitors & more events equal more revenues for local businesses, even over our rainy winter months.
The wrong move is to ignore our homeless residents.
I have old friends who are regularly on & off the streets in Victoria, I’m passionately aware of the fact that each person is someone’s mother, father, son, daughter. If elected, I will face homelessness in Parksville with compassion.

I love the idea of a Parksville-based swimming pool too, however we already have one 10 mins down the road, which may also be expanded in the coming years. Pools are expensive to construct & maintain. What we don't have are public indoor courts that can be enjoyed year-round, or a 3-400 seat theatre that can be used for school drama classes, music shows, movies, dance, graduations, public speaking, art shows and more. We could open the theatre to all neighbouring communities, generating more revenue and opportunity for our city.
I support the construction of a Parksville Recreation Centre, but I believe the current plan can be improved upon.

As a local football coach & father of future Ballenas students, I am keenly aware of the fact that our sports facilities need improvement. If elected, I will begin by ensuring the running track project is completed in a timely manner. I will also spearhead an effort to have a public access, sports complex with washroom, storage & concessions adjacent to the track & both fields. We live in a World class city, we need a respectable sports facility.
Our city is unique with amazing residents ranging in age, political views & orientations. Our children can genuinely play in our beautiful parks with little concern. Local families enjoy our beaches, with clean, safe water. Our senior residents can sleep at night, knowing that our city has a lower likelihood of crime happening at our doorsteps than other municipalities. I like to say that Parksville is the best place in Canada to call home, but Parksville is not perfect.
Growth must be managed in a manner that ensures realistic housing is attainable for all residents, regardless of status or income. Parksville has on-going health crisis, we need more medical practitioners here period. We have a large senior and retiree population, we must increase our portfolio of programs, facilities & transportation available to this segment of our population. Our irreplaceable forested areas, beaches & parks must be protected from development. Our local businesses need to be protected, while opportunities to work in higher paying, local jobs must be increased.
I am a media and communications professional, a Parksville homeowner, married with two young children. My mother is a senior & local property owner as well, I understand both parallels deeply. I'm a seasoned event planner & fundraiser, business operator & someone who enjoys Parksville's green spaces daily.
If elected, I will be transparent, accessible & extremely hard working. I will always keep an open mind & will be open to having my mind changed as well. I will consider it my duty to make Parksville an even better place for all to call home. I'm a firm believer in transparent & pragmatic leadership, I am committed to open communication with you concerning any issues.
Reach out to me with any questions & good luck to everyone running in the October 15th municipal election.

Staying active in a fun & safe environment can be difficult, especially over the winter months. If elected, I will work to create incentives for local fitness related businesses to provide more senior focused programs throughout the year. More healthy activities available for seniors will benefit the largest segment of Parksville's population while creating increased revenue opportunities for local businesses.
Environment - Our remaining green spaces, parks & beaches are irreplaceable, something all of us hold close to our hearts. I will be a staunch defender of our natural areas, we must protect our remaining environmental footprint for generations to come.
Community - To me, community represents Parksville's culture, our neighbourhoods, events and our future. We must create new & positive opportunities for our children & all residents, regardless of income or status for generations to come.
Business - The heartbeat of our city, businesses support local families, pay taxes & provide much needed services to all of us. I will work hard to ensure that local businesses have an opportunity not just to survive, but to thrive in the coming years, which many anticipate may be a struggle economically.
